Form Freak!

Hi everyone, and welcome back. I know it’s been a long time since I posted anything. I’m sorry, I have a newborn, awesome little baby girl to love, so I kind of chilled out for a bit. Thanks for hanging in there.

Today I want to talk about form during lifting and strength training. Have you ever been to the gym and heard a trainer go crazy over a client’s form? Correcting and re-correcting to the point that the client seems slightly or totally annoyed? Good! That’s a sign of a good trainer, provided the information is correct. Why is form so important? Well, two main reasons: Number 1 – if you are doing form incorrectly you risk injury. Later on in the next blog I will discuss how injury happens. Number 2 – you’re not lifting the weight in the most efficient way. Inefficient lifting patterns limit the amount of weight you can lift in the long run. If you’re a bodybuilder you cannot target the muscle you’re working. In order to target a specific muscle you must be in proper kinetic alignment in proportion to the weight, and in alignment of the specific muscle to target. So how does this look in the real world do you ask? Well, I could spend hours explaining each exercise in proper form on this blog, but that would probably take you about a week or more to read. So I design videos on YouTube to explain proper form. You can find these videos on my Facebook work page @Donovan M O’Connor, along with other awesome tips. Or, go to YouTube, search Donovan O’Connor, and find several good videos on form. For a good understanding of basic compound exercises, please go to these videos, wacth them and click Like! Join me back here next week, I will discuss more in depth on form. Thanks,  Donovan 🙂
